SHEILA’S NOTEBOOK
If You Have Access, You Have Something to Give
This week on Sheila’s Notebook, I’m reflecting on what it means to make room for women to grow. Jessica stepped from regional management into the Director of Operations role, Priscilla moved from recruiting into marketing, and Ana advanced from property management into regional leadership. Each earned her next step through her own work and strengths. Their stories remind me that access can begin with an introduction, a skill shared, or an invitation. Good leadership opens doors, offers support, and trusts each woman to take her next step in her own way.
Four Rainey women gathered around a table, representing women helping women grow. One Chance Can Open Many Doors.
I saw potential in Bre and gave her the opportunity to become Rainey’s VP of HR. She had an education and little direct experience in the role, but I believed in her. She knocked it out of the park.
As Bre grew, she passed that belief forward. She gave Darian the opportunity to become a Generalist and Priscilla the opportunity to become a Recruiter. They, too, started with an education and little experience. Each stepped into the opportunity, grew into her role, and knocked it out of the park.
That’s what can happen when we believe in someone enough to give her a chance. One woman opens a door, and she can help open the next. At Rainey, that support has created a ripple of women helping women grow.

BREAKING BARRIERS BEYOND THE PODCAST
This Tuesday, October 27, I’m joined by Karry Canfield for a powerful conversation about rebuilding after domestic violence. Karry shares how Entryway helped her reestablish herself and take steps toward a new beginning. I had goosebumps listening to her story, and I’m grateful she trusted us to share it.

A THOUGHT FOR YOUR WEEK

Access can be smaller than a title or a big platform. Sometimes it is an introduction, a skill shared, or an invitation that helps someone see a new possibility. What we’ve learned can become a way to make room for someone else.

LET’S TALK

What access, experience, or connection has helped you grow? Is there one door you can help open for someone else this week? Reply and tell me about it.

With love,
Sheila
